Eleanor Dowe

ELEANOR DOWE was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She worked for Bronx State psychiatric for 48 years before she retired in 2009. Eleanor started volunteering in her community in 2017 as a resident’s watch for NYCHA. She was concerned about her community's safety. Being a resident's watch, she was trying to improve her community's quality of life and bring light to other important issues like education, poverty, and health.
Ms. Dowe was all about family first. Unfortunately, on January 2, 2021,
Ms. Eleanor Dowe slipped down a flight of stairs in her NYCHA building where she had lived for over 35 years because the elevator wasn’t stopping on the 19 th floor where her apartment was located, trying to make it to her dialysis appointment. She turned 67 on January 7, 2021, and On January 15, 2021, Ms. Eleanor succumbed to her injury at Bronx Lebanon Hospital.We are a passionate foundation driven by a purpose to help foster and build a healthy environment and relationships that will impact those in need, our youth, and seniors in the South Bronx communities.
